Citing scholar Antonio Rigopoulos, the tripundra is a Shaiva mark comprising three horizontal ash lines on the forehead, representing Shiva’s threefold power of will, knowledge and action.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had compared demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar to "Lord Shiva’s Tandav" and asserted that the movement did not require formal planning. He said the protest was not dependent on a fixed plan and would continue in different forms.

“The plan was that we would go by bus, sit there, and get arrested. The police wouldn't let us go. So we changed the plan. Did the result come from the plan, or did it come from the non-plan? There is no need for any plan. This dance is ongoing. This is Lord Shiva’s dance going on. In this, anyone can join Shiva's procession (Shiv ki Baraat). Anyone who wants to join can come,” he said. 

Rahul Gandhi had also invoked the symbolism of Lord Shiva during his speech in the Lok Sabha on July 1, 2024, during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address. Holding an image of Lord Shiva, he described the deity as a symbol of fearlessness, non-violence and truthfulness.

The Congress leader also spoke about the Abhaymudra, saying it represented the next step in the evolution of the idea of facing the truth, fearlessness and non-violence. He added that religions across the world emphasised courage and referred to Islam, Sikhism, Christianity and Jainism in the context of fearlessness and the Abhaymudra.

Meanwhile, on October 25, Rahul Gandhi urged students, farmers, labourers, women, youth and traders to participate in the ‘Save the Vote, Save the Country Jan March and Mega Rally’, scheduled to be held at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1. He alleged that names had been removed from voter lists and that rules and laws had been violated.

In a post on X, Gandhi alleged, “Our votes are being stolen, and we will not tolerate this quietly under any circumstances.”

Announcing the November 1 programme, the Congress leader urged people to gather in the national capital for the march and mega rally.“November 1 - Let's go to Delhi. Save the Vote - Save the Country Jan March and Mega Rally,” his post read.

“Students, farmers, labourers, women, youth, and traders - anyone who cares about democracy must come,” he wrote.

Furthermore, on Monday, Gandhi issued another appeal on X, this time addressing the business community in the national capital. He blamed the Central Government for administrative lockdowns and traffic disruptions across Delhi while reiterating the Opposition's demand for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

He wrote, "To every trader in Delhi: We love you and hear you. The Govt shut the metro, sealed our roads and locked down our capital. With a stolen vote, nothing is safe - your shop, your savings, your children’s future. Tell Modi to sack accused no. 4, Gyanesh Kumar and the protests will stop in 30 seconds." (ANI)

Addressing Indian science and technology researchers and students in Germany, Goyal said he had asked his ministry to identify professions that could remain relevant amid rapid technological changes and help the country prepare for the future of work.

“I got my ministry to start working on what are the AI proof professions..After all we have to plan as a nation for so many millions of people. What are the sectors where the AI can at max add to efficiency, not necessary replace (human workforce),” he said.

Goyal said India could take a global leadership role in sectors such as handicrafts, handlooms, culinary arts and tourism, where traditional skills and human creativity remain important.

“Also, given the traditional skills that many of us in India acquire. So, our handicraft, handloom no amount of AI can replace that,” he said.

He added that India would focus on developing areas where it has distinct advantages to improve the lives of its 1.4 billion people.

“There are many, many areas where I think we have some very special strengths which we will be focusing on also simultaneously developing to ensure that 1.4 billion people have a better life in the future,” Goyal said.

Asked about potential incentives for such sectors, the minister said the approach would involve a combination of government and private initiatives, depending on the requirements and opportunities in each area.

“It will be a mix of several initiatives, some privately led, some government led, some people led, some opportunity led,” he said.

Goyal also said the government was exploring ways to encourage Indian researchers, engineers and scientists working abroad to return and contribute to the country’s development.

He said he had asked researchers and students in Germany to outline the support they would need to consider working in India.

“I have asked them (researchers and students) to tell us what they will need in order to consider and how can we support more, young researchers or our talented engineers and scientific community to come and work and serve in India,” he said.

Emphasising that financial incentives alone may not be sufficient to attract skilled professionals, Goyal said India needed to strengthen its research ecosystem and create a supportive environment for innovation.

“And surprisingly, I realize it’s not just about money, it’s about the enabling environment, the support of the ecosystem,” he said.

The minister said he would discuss the issue with government and private educational institutions, academia, leading research institutions and industry to explore partnerships between researchers and industry.

Goyal’s remarks come amid efforts to strengthen India’s research and innovation ecosystem and make better use of its skilled workforce as emerging technologies reshape employment and industries.

Referring to Indian students in Germany, he said many were increasingly interested in returning home and contributing to India’s economic growth.

“This large Indian student community, full of enthusiasm, seems to be very excited about taking their learnings back to India. Now we can see them not just looking for a job in Germany, but wanting to be back home to contribute to the India growth story, because that is where the action is,” he told reporters.

Germany has around 330,000 people of Indian origin, besides nearly 60,000-70,000 Indian students, according to the figures cited in the report.

Goyal was in Germany to hold discussions with government and private-sector leaders on strengthening trade and investment ties between India and Germany. (ANI)

The drive was conducted by the MCD’s West Zone in coordination with the Revenue Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), BSES and Delhi Police. It covered Ward No. 110 (Kunwar Singh Nagar) and Ward No. 111 (Baprola).

During the drive, the joint team inspected seven units, including six industrial units and one godown. Of these, three industrial units found engaged in polluting activities were sealed on the spot in accordance with applicable provisions.

The electricity connections of the concerned units were also disconnected, and their electricity meters were seized.

The MCD stated that the drive was aimed at identifying polluting units in the West Zone and taking appropriate action against them in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. 

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has also intensified its efforts to combat air pollution through a series of dust mitigation, deep cleaning of roads and enforcement measures across the city. 

According to MCD on Wednesday (21 October), deep cleaning of identified dust-prone roads is being undertaken in all 12 zones to control dust pollution. 

The Corporation has also strengthened field-level enforcement to address violations contributing to air pollution and ensure effective implementation of prescribed dust mitigation measures.

Additionally, MCD has designated sites in all 250 wards for dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste to prevent illegal dumping and facilitate better monitoring. Moreover, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been prepared & disseminated to ensure proper dust mitigation at these sites. 

 The MCD mentioned that the prescribed measures include installation of continuous dust and wind-breaking walls at least three metres higher than the maximum height of material heaps, complete covering or regular wetting of dumped materials, particularly stone aggregates, and installation of specialised fine-nozzle water sprinkling systems across the entire area.

As part of its operational measures, MCD has also deployed a fleet of 167 water sprinklers and 40 mobile Anti-Smog Guns (ASGs) on various roads to control dust pollution. 

 20 ASGs have been installed at various MCD facilities, including C&D processing plants, dumpsites and Waste-to-Energy (WTE) facilities, while 20 ASGs have been installed at MCD high-rise buildings. (ANI)

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Lok Bhavan Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram. Chief Justice of the High Court of Keralam, Justice Soumen Sen, administered the oath of office to Mathur, who previously served as the Governor of Sikkim.

Speaking to ANI, State and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders welcomed his appointment and described it as a proud occasion.

Keralam Minister and State Congress chief Sunny Joseph described the ceremony as a happy occasion, highlighting the presence of the Chief Minister, the Chief Justice, ministers and MLAs.

"The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in a very pleasant mood, and it was well attended, along with the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice. Almost all the ministers were there; our MLAs were there. It was a very happy occasion to welcome the new governor to the beautiful state of Kerala, God's own country. We have strongly and warmly welcomed the new governor. And we are happy to attend the function," Joseph told ANI.

Rajasthan Minister Sanjay Sharma described Mathur's appointment as a moment of pride for Rajasthan, recalling his long association with the BJP and his organisational responsibilities.

"This is a moment of great pride for us. Om Prakash Mathur, a senior leader of the BJP in Rajasthan and a pracharak of the Sangh, has served in various capacities, including as the BJP’s Rajasthan State President and as an organisational secretary. He has held diverse roles within the party at the national level, served two terms as a member of the Rajya Sabha, and overseen election management as the party’s in-charge for several states," he told ANI.

He added, "Having recently concluded his tenure as the Governor of Sikkim, he has today taken the oath of office as the Governor of Kerala. This is a proud moment for all the people of Rajasthan, and especially for the grassroots-level workers of the BJP," Sharma said.

Jaipur (South) BJP District President Rajesh Gurjar also highlighted Mathur's political and organisational experience, including his role in developing new leadership within the party.

"Om Mathur has had an extensive political career. Throughout his journey, he has served in various capacities—as a pracharak for the Sangh, as an in-charge for several states, as a Member of Parliament, and as a General Secretary, Organisation. In every role, he prioritised the organisation and delivered exceptional work, while also playing a pivotal role in cultivating new leadership. During his tenure as the Governor of Sikkim, he accomplished remarkable work. Today, he has taken the oath as the Governor of Keralam. We have accompanied him to offer our support, and we all wish for a bright future for the state of Keralam," Jaipur (South) BJP District President said.

Mathur hails from Bedal village in Bali, Pali district, Rajasthan. A graduate of Rajasthan University, he entered public life as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak. He subsequently served as the BJP's Rajasthan state president and general secretary in charge of Gujarat, besides holding organisational responsibilities at the national level.

He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan for two terms and handled election management for the BJP in several states before being appointed Governor of Sikkim.

Mathur succeeds Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar as the 29th Governor of Keralam. Arlekar has been transferred to Tamil Nadu as the Governor of the state.

A week ago, President Droupadi Murmu appointed four new Governors to various states, according to a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan. Sudha Yadav was appointed Governor of Karnataka, Dhal Singh Bisen as Governor of Uttarakhand, Braj Mohan Ram as Governor of Odisha and Dushyant Gautam as Governor of Sikkim.

ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੰਟਰ-ਡਿਪਾਰਟਮੈਂਟਲ ਕਮੇਟੀ (IDC) ਦੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਕਈ ਚੈਨਲਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕੋ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਾਰਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਚੈਨਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਣ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਆਰਟੀਫਿਸ਼ਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ (AI) ਅਤੇ ਜਨਰੇਟਿਵ AI ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਚੈਨਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੌਕਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਗ੍ਰਾਫਿਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਵਰਚੁਅਲ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ AI ਟੂਲਜ਼ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਲ ਹੀ, ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ, ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਟੀਵੀ ਚੈਨਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਪਾਦਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਪਾਦਨ, ਪ੍ਰੋਡਕਸ਼ਨ, ਟ੍ਰਾਂਸਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਣ ਤੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਯਮਿਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਐਡਵਾਈਜ਼ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੋਣ 'ਤੇ ਕੇਬਲ ਟੈਲੀਵਿਜ਼ਨ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ, 1995 ਤਹਿਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਫੇਰਬਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਬ-ਡਿਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ (SDPOs) ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਯੂਨਿਟ, ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ, ਅਪਰਾਧ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ (EOW) ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਹੈੱਡਕੁਆਰਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਇਕਾਈਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਤਾਇਨਾਤੀਆਂ ਬਦਲੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਪ੍ਰਮੋਦ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ (DPA) ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੀਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਏਸੀਪੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਏਸੀ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਸ਼ਸ਼ੀਕਾਂਤ ਗੌੜ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਸੌਂਪੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also extended her wishes on the occasion, invoking the blessings of Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended warm greetings to citizens across the country, praying for the happiness, success, and well-being of all.

“May the blessings of Mother Mahagauri, the goddess of sacrifice and penance, brighten everyone's future. May everyone attain fame and glory in life—this is our heartfelt wish,” PM Modi posted on X.

The nine-day festival of Navratri, dedicated to the worship of the nine forms of the divine feminine (Navadurga), is being celebrated across the country with immense religious fervour and devotion.

The Hindu festival of Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is a yearly celebration that honours the Hindu Goddess Durga and commemorates her victory over Mahishasur. Hindu mythology holds that the Goddess comes to her earthly abode at this time to bless her devotees.

Durga Puja culminates on Vijayadashami (Dussehra), which falls on the tenth day of the festival and celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. (ANI)

According to Delhi Police, Dipke will be released after signing a peace bond.

This comes after Ratna Singh, head of legal affairs for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), on Saturday challenged the legality of party founder Abhijeet Dipke’s arrest and urged the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court to order his immediate release, alleging gross violations of fundamental rights and due process.

In a post on X, Singh questioned how urging citizens to participate in a peaceful national demonstration could be treated as an offence.

"The SEM Court should release Abhijeet Dipke, as his arrest is unlawful. He merely urged people to unfurl the Tiranga - how can that by itself be a crime?" Singh wrote.

Singh expressed serious concerns over the manner in which Dipke was picked up from right outside his residence. She claimed that authorities failed to promptly disclose his whereabouts and denied his legal counsel access to him.

"The manner in which he was picked up from right outside his residence, no information about his whereabouts, and the fact that even his lawyers have been unable to meet him raise serious concerns about due process and fundamental rights. How can such an apparent abuse of power be justified in a democracy governed by the rule of law? Delhi Police cannot do unlawful acts under the garb of preventive detention," she added.

Singh had earlier confirmed that Dipke was scheduled to be produced before the SEM at Mandir Marg Police Station around noon on Saturday.

Delhi Police detained Dipke on Friday to prevent him from leading the scheduled 'Lehra Do Tiranga' rally at Central Park in Connaught Place. Authorities invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), imposing strict prohibitory orders against public assemblies in Central Delhi. 

The detention comes against the backdrop of widespread demonstrations against the Election Commission regarding alleged irregularities in electoral roll revisions. Police reported detaining roughly 150 demonstrators and registering several FIRs over violations of prohibitory orders after crowds assembled despite public warnings. 

Following the event, police booked Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS in a fresh preventive proceeding. This marks a separate preventive case from an earlier October 10 action, wherein Dipke was required to sign a peace bond undertaking for a period of one year. 

The protests come amid continued demonstrations by Opposition leaders, INDIA bloc parties and student organisations against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and its handling of the electoral process. (ANI)

CJP ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿਰੰਗਾ ਮਾਰਚ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮਾਰਚ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਗਿਆਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਉਠਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ।

ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ 5 ਵਜੇ ਕਨਾਟ ਪਲੇਸ ਦੇ ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਰੈਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ 28 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਨਾਟ ਪਲੇਸ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਝੰਡੇਵਾਲਾਨ ਸਥਿਤ ਉਸ ਬੰਗਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ, ਜਿੱਥੇ CJP ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਰੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਦੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਹਿਸ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਰੈਲੀ ਜਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਿਰੰਗਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਖਦਸ਼ਾ ਵੀ ਜਤਾਇਆ

ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਖਦਸ਼ਾ ਜਤਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

CJP ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਨਾਟ ਪਲੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੁਖ਼ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਪਾਰਕ ਬੰਦ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਵੀ ਰੋਕ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ 'ਐਕਸ' 'ਤੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ, ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਦੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਕੌਣ ਨਿਭਾਏਗਾ?

ਪਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਝੋਟਾ ਕਤਲਕਾਂਡ 'ਤੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਵਾਲ

ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਮਾਨਸਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਝੋਟਾ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਿਨ-ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ-ਵਿਵਸਥਾ 'ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਝੋਟਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ 'ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰਾਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਮੰਗੇਗਾ।

ਦਿੜ੍ਹਬਾ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦਿੜ੍ਹਬਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪਿਤਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਦਬਾਅ ਹੇਠ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਣ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ-ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਵਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਵੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਉਠਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ।

ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਸਵਾਲ

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਲਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾਕੁਨ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਥਿਤ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਾਮੁਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰਮੁਕਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਣਨ 'ਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਾਮੁਕਤ, ਗੈਂਗਸਟਰਮੁਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨਾ, ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨਾ, ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਨਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਵੇ।

ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ-ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਬਹਿਸ ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ।

A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued notice to the Centre and posted the matter for further hearing on December 7.

The apex court was hearing a plea filed by Indore-based Emerald Heights International School and its Director, Siddharth Singh.

The petition sought age-based restrictions on social media use, including a ban on access for children below a prescribed age.

The petition sought a comprehensive policy to address risks such as cyberbullying, online grooming, sexual exploitation, exposure to harmful content and addictive platform design. 

It also flagged concerns over depression, anxiety, body-image issues, sleep disruption and the misuse of children’s personal data.

The petitioners contend that voluntary safeguards and parental controls are insufficient to address these risks. 

They have also sought a declaration that the government’s failure to put adequate protections in place violates children’s fundamental rights, including the rights to equality, life and personal liberty, and education. (ANI)

ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਕਦੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ?

ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਮੁਰੁਗਨ ਨੇ ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰ, 13 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰੇਂਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਗਠਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਬਾਅਦ, 15 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਭਵਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੁਰੁਗਨ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ’ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ।

ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਛੇਦ 75 ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ (2) ਤਹਿਤ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ

ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਭਵਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ 15 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ 7:14 ਵਜੇ (PIB ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ) ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਕਮਿਊਨੀਕੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ’ਤੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਛੇਦ 75 ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ (2) ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਮੁਰੁਗਨ ਦਾ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਈ।

ਬਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਲਈ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਟਕਲ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ, ਮੁਰੁਗਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਨਾ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ—ਉਹ ਤਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਂ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਰਾਜ ਸਭਾ ਦੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ?

ਐੱਲ. ਮੁਰੁਗਨ ਸਤੰਬਰ 2021 ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹਨ। ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਮੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਉੱਚ ਸਦਨ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਭਾ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2030 ਤੱਕ ਹੈ।

"The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Dr. L. Murugan from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India," the press communique said. 

L Murugan on Tuesday announced his resignation from his ministry as well as his membership in the Rajya Sabha.

Murugan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. He was holding the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs.

On his resignation, BJP leader L Murugan told ANI, "I have written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing my desire to go to Tamil Nadu. I want to strengthen my party in the state and prepare the ground for the 2029 elections. Our Prime Minister has always taken Tamil pride to the global level. Two days ago, our Hon'ble Prime Minister also visited Tamil Nadu. I witnessed the people's enthusiasm, love, and affection towards him."

The announcement comes days after Hardeep Puri, who currently holds the Petroleum ministry portfolio, was not nominated for the Upper House.

He said the Prime Minister's visit pushed him to work more extensively to strengthen BJP in Tamil Nadu. "I requested the Prime Minister to relieve me of my ministerial responsibilities and send me to the state to strengthen the party," he said.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Murugan expressed deep gratitude for his tenure in government and outlined his decision to focus entirely on organisational work at the village level ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)

Making these remarks following the death of anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, alleged that when Jhota lodged a complaint over drug abuse in the state, the police registered a case against Jhota himself, asserting that drug peddlers are bound to roam free if the complainant becomes the accused in the state under the AAP administration.

"Raising a voice against drugs in Punjab has now become a death sentence. And this is happening under the rule of Bhagwant Mann's AAP government. The Congress leader further questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, demanding an answer on who would protect those fighting against drugs, asserting that the Congress party would not rest easy without dismantling the drug empire in the state. 

"CM Bhagwant Mann, answer this: Who will protect those fighting against drugs? Without dismantling this drug empire that's destroying the future of Punjab's youth, Congress will not rest easy," added Gandhi. 

Gandhi's remarks came after anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota was shot by a medical shop owner, who later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital. The incident has ignited a political firestorm in the state, with opposition parties attacking the Bhagwant Mann-led government over the alleged failure of law and order and questioning the effectiveness of Punjab's drive against drugs.

Following the incident, the Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Rajasthan Police, arrested the main shooter involved in the murder of Anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota from Salasar, Rajasthan, officials said on wednesday.

According to Salasar Station House Officer (SHO) Shankar Lal Bhari, the accused sharpshooter was arrested from the Shri Ganganagar Dharamshala, situated near the Salasar Balaji Temple, where he was reportedly hiding in disguise. 

Later, hours after the arrest of the prime accused Asvini, the district administration on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive at the residence of the accused amid heavy security deployment. (ANI)

Addressing a press conference, Dipke said, “For the past 10-15 days, students’ organisations and the youth of Delhi have been out on the streets, being dragged away. When the Opposition joined them, they were detained too, including the Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Ministers like Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Pinarayi Vijayan. And all this for whom? For one man, Gyanesh Kumar.”

He further alleged that Railways services were shut down following the October 10 call, claiming it was possibly the first time in the country’s history.

“For whom? Gyanesh Kumar. That wasn’t enough, so they shut the Metro and closed stations across Delhi. For whom? Gyanesh Kumar. Still not satisfied, they brought in forces from Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Expressing solidarity with the media, AISA activist Neha Bora on Thursday slammed the authorities over the detention of journalists and alleged harassment.

Addressing a press conference, Bora said, "We know that you keep saying that you have press cards in your hands, that this is our press card, and by beating and dragging the journalists of Caravan's Quint, they were detained for hours, despite knowing that they had press cards."

She further alleged, "We saw how cameras were snatched from journalists and they were told that they would not get the camera if they cover this. And yesterday, shockingly we see that a journalist who is covering news and is being sexually harassed by Vivek Bhagat when she goes to file an FIR, then yesterday it turns out that a counter FIR is registered against her."

"And this that happened in this country is that when common people reach the police to appeal for justice, that police, instead of maintaining law and order, giving support to a particular political party, cracks down on the public itself. This is a classic example of what we have been seeing in this country for so long," she added.

The CJP and other organisations have given a call for people to wave the national flag at the Central Park in Delhi's connaught place on Saturday. With the AAP also supporting that call, this is the next step in their agitation against the CEC. (ANI)

In the wake of the statewide shutdown, heavy security deployment has been made across Mansa.

Weighing in on the situation, Bathinda Range DIG Harjeet Singh said, "We are ensuring that emergency services are not affected. We are also in touch with the protesters. We will ensure that normal life is not affected."

Providing updates on the ongoing investigation, the DIG added, "The main accused has been arrested; one more individual has also been arrested along with him. They will be produced before the Court soon."

The bandh call follows the killing of Jhota, an anti-drug activist from Mansa district who was allegedly shot by a medical shop owner on Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital after sustaining bullet injuries but later succumbed to them.

Jhota's father, Bhim Singh, had criticised the state administration over its failure to prevent the attack and demanded accountability from the Chief Minister and the DGP. He also called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

"Chief Minister and the DGP, if their conscience awakens, they should resign on their own. Furthermore, the investigation into this murder should be conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Thirdly, a call has been issued for a 'Punjab Bandh' tomorrow, October 15th. On behalf of the committee, as well as all joint forums, activists, political parties, and organisations, we earnestly appeal to the people of Punjab to observe this shutdown starting from the morning," Bhim Singh said.

Earlier, the Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Rajasthan Police, arrested the alleged main shooter from Salasar in Rajasthan on Wednesday, officials said.

According to Salasar Station House Officer (SHO) Shankar Lal Bhari, the accused was arrested from Shri Ganganagar Dharamshala near the Salasar Balaji Temple, where he was reportedly hiding in disguise.

The Punjab Police team subsequently took the accused into custody, and further investigation into the case is underway. (ANI)

Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Justice Surya Kant expressed his gratitude to the Delhi Government and its health department for their assistance in setting up the advanced clinic.

"With the assistance of the Delhi Government's health department and the Delhi Government, we have inaugurated a very good clinic today for Bar members, our staff, and the staff associated with advocates," Justice Surya Kant said.

Highlighting the comprehensive medical services available at the new facility, he noted that the centre offers treatments across Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic, and Allopathic systems, along with basic diagnostic services such as X-rays and blood tests.

"The best part is that direct connectivity has been established with specialised hospitals, like the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences and RML Hospital, along with ultrasound facilities," he added.

Terming health as an issue that brooks no compromise, Justice Surya Kant expressed happiness over fulfilling a long-pending demand of the Bar members and their associated staff.

"I am very happy that for the Bar members, who had a long-pending demand, and their associated staff, a very good facility has been added. For this, I express my gratitude to the Delhi Government and everyone involved," he said. (ANI)

In his representation, Kumar said he was distressed that his name was dragged into controversy when Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Karnataka on October 1, opposed his appointment as head of the SIT constituted by the Karnataka High Court to probe alleged irregularities in KPSC recruitment exams.

Sibal had submitted that Kumar was facing a pending CBI probe in the 2019 phone-tapping case. Kumar said the claim is factually incorrect.

He pointed out that the CBI filed a closure report - B-report - in the case, which was accepted by the Special CBI Court on February 13, 2024, after CFSL findings and witness statements revealed no material evidence. Complainant, former DCP Kuldeep R Jain, had also conveyed no objection to the closure.

Kumar noted CBI's preliminary inquiry in January 2022 had found no criminality and left the matter to the State. He had served as Bengaluru City Police Commissioner for only 47 days, from June 17 to August 2, 2019.

On departmental action, he said a proposal initiated earlier was dropped after his representation was examined by the then Chief Minister in March 2023. A fresh show-cause notice and charge sheet issued in May 2025 were quashed by the CAT Chairman in October 2025, with direction to extend consequential benefits. The State's writ petition challenging it is pending before the High Court, but no interim stay was granted.

Kumar clarified he never sought the SIT post and was nominated suo motu by the High Court Division Bench on September 21.

With the Supreme Court staying the HC order and directing the State to file an affidavit by October 12, Kumar urged the Chief Secretary to place correct judicial records before the legal team and ensure unverified allegations are not included.

Earlier in September, the Karnataka High Court set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Alok Kumar to probe the alleged recruitment irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the order directing the formation of the SIT and ordered that all evidence collected by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the jurisdictional police be handed over to the new team. The court also directed all departments, investigation agencies, and public authorities to extend full cooperation to the SIT. (ANI)

ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ 30 ਸਤੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸਕਾਨ ਰਸਤੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਜੱਜ ਅਰਵਿੰਦ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਮਿਸ਼ਰਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਜ਼ਾ ’ਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਸੁਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ 14 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਦੀ ਤਾਰੀਖ਼ ਤੈਅ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

In a post on X, Choudhary said, "The Bihar contingent for the national motorcycle rally—traveling from Patna to Gujarat on the occasion of National Unity Day 2026—was flagged off from the Chief Minister's Secretariat. This rally will convey a message aimed at strengthening the spirit of national unity, integrity, and patriotism."

In another post on X, the Chief Minister on Tuesday said a review meeting of the Food and Consumer Protection Department was held at the 'Sankalp' auditorium located at the Government Servants' Housing.

"Instructions were given to promptly issue ration cards to eligible poor families and to make the public distribution system transparent," he said.

Earlier on Monday, Choudhary on Monday said at a press conference that Bihar had become more strongly connected to the country's development trajectory during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12 years in power at the Centre. He listed gains in housing, healthcare, women's empowerment, bridges, airports and flood control, and said work on a flood-control plan for Bihar's rivers was underway.

Referring to Modi's swearing-in as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, Choudhary said that over the past 25 years, the Prime Minister had placed "nation first, citizen first" above the position he held.

"October 7 reminds us that the public's trust is the greatest strength in a democracy, and that the journey of public service moves forward through constant dialogue, accountability and commitment to the national interest," Choudhary said.

He said Modi accepted the responsibility of leading the nation in 2014 as a "Pradhan Sevak" and not as a right to power.

"Every decision of governance is driven by national interest and the broad vision of public welfare," he said.

According to Choudhary, the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" reflects the idea that no section of society should be left behind in the development journey.

Highlighting housing and basic amenities, Choudhary said more pucca houses had been built between 2014 and 2026 than in the entire period from Independence to 2014.

"From 2014 to 2026, 55 lakh houses have been built, in cities and villages both. For 2026-27, funds for about 11.25 lakh more pucca houses have been allocated," he said.

He added that more than seven crore people had been brought into the banking system under the Jan Dhan scheme, while over 1.5 crore households had received toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He said 1.21 crore families had received LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme in the past 12 years.

Choudhary further said electricity had reached every household in Bihar by 2018.

On food security, he said around 80 crore people nationwide, including 8.57 crore in Bihar, were receiving free foodgrains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

"This reduced their kitchen expenses and let them spend on their children's education and health," he said. (ANI)

Posing three direct questions regarding the transparency of the process, Ramesh, in a post on X, said, "Here are three very simple and straightforward questions to the Union Home Minister, who has been defending SIR: 1. How many infiltrators were detected? 2. How many infiltrators were deleted? 3. How many infiltrators were deported? 100 crore Indians have been put through the SIR process. They deserve to know the results."

Targeting the Union Home Minister further, Ramesh questioned whether the government considered genuine voters as foreign nationals.

"The fact is that the infiltrators argument is given repeatedly by the architect of the Shah Instigated Removal (SIR) to divert attention from the reality of nearly 14 crore Indians being stripped of their constitutional right to vote by the Desperate Duo. Is he suggesting that these 14 crore Indians are infiltrators? As HM, has he overseen this massive rise in infiltrators?" the Congress leader questioned.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also took to social media to issue a rallying call against alleged "electoral fraud," urging citizens to unite as a collective shield to protect democracy and constitutional safeguards.

In a poetic post on X anchored around the refrain of "One voice of One India," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister emphasised that the struggle against democratic backsliding is directly linked to the rights of marginalised communities, reservation protections, and social equality.

"For the sake of the 'Nation,' all stand together... Against 'Electoral Fraud', becoming the shield of 'Democracy', for the protection of the Constitution and Reservations... Let all 'Injustice and Oppression' be eradicated," Yadav wrote.

The SP chief further advocated for economic and social justice, stating that the collective voice of the country must ensure livelihood for all, realisation of youth aspirations, safety and dignity for women, and an end to caste discrimination so that the exploited and deprived receive their rightful constitutional due. Highlighting the gravity of the Opposition's concerns, Pilot stated that the party has formally approached the judiciary to seek intervention.

"The people of the country are concerned. We have appealed to the judiciary. The issue is that the role of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is questionable. What he did is illegal," Pilot told reporters.

SP MP Priya Saroj said, "Changing the protest site isn't going to silence our voices, nor are we going to stop; in fact, we have only grown stronger because of the attitude they have shown towards us...We will not back down..."

Earlier, After the INDIA bloc's "Chalo Dilli" march to the Supreme Court, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the movement to "protect democracy" will continue.

He said he invited his "comrades" from civil society, student organisations and leaders from the INDIA bloc, along with opposition MPs, for a tea meeting today, after which they plan to present their case before the media. 

He added that all are together in their fight to "protect" democracy.

"Today I have invited the leaders of the INDIA alliance, opposition MPs, student organisations, and civil society comrades to my home for tea. In this people's movement to protect democracy, we are all together - and this movement will continue relentlessly," Gandhi posted on X.

"After tea, we will all come together and present our case in front of the media. All protests are one," he added.

This comes after INDIA bloc leaders and supporters, led by Rahul Gandhi, marched through Barakhamba Road towards the Supreme Court, following which 11 opposition leaders filed a petition in the apex court challenging the Election Commission's decisions relating to the SIR of electoral rolls on Monday. Speaking to ANI, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harjeet Singh stated that police have formed multiple teams to apprehend the prime suspect. He further informed that the police have so far arrested an associate of the suspect, and family members have been detained for interrogation over the matter. 

 "We received information about this earlier today. Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident was carried out by the shop owner, Ashwani. Ashwani possessed a licensed pistol, which he used to shoot Parminder Chota—a Mansa-based anti-drug activist who had been doing significant work against the drug menace. Preliminary findings suggest the attack was motivated by personal enmity. We have formed various teams to apprehend the suspect; one of his associates has already been arrested, and his family members have been detained for questioning," said Singh. 

Singh's remarks came after anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhotha was shot by a medical shop owner and later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital. The incident has ignited a political firestorm in the state, with opposition parties on Tuesday attacking the Bhagwant Mann-led government over the alleged failure of law and order and questioning the effectiveness of Punjab's drive against drugs.

Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi alleged that anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhotta was harassed multiple times by the Punjab government, with false cases registered to stall his efforts to stop drug traffickers in the state. 

"Parminder Singh Jhotta was a very strong, brave, and forward-thinking young social activist who fought against those selling drugs. The government didn't just once, but multiple times, harassed him and filed cases against him to stop him from acting against drug traffickers. However, today his struggle reached its peak when a drug dealer shot him and made a video of it... The government's thugs and gangsters have killed him in broad daylight. When a call was made to the police to stop the drug trade and get help, the police didn't wake up and no one showed up..." said Channi. 

Speaking to reporters, Channi charged that the AAP administration has turned Punjab into a "jungle raj," where anyone attempting to stop drug trafficking in the state is targeted by the government.

"These are the conditions the Aam Aadmi Party has created in Punjab today... Every single person who talks about stopping drugs in Punjab is targeted by the government—they are framed, tortured, beaten, and killed here. This has turned into a jungle raj in Punjab..." added Channi. 

Following the incident, the father of the anti-drug activist appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister to ensure the security of his grandchildren, alleging that the Punjab government failed to protect his son.

"The Punjab government did not provide him with any security. Nobody protected us. Now, even my grandchildren are at risk. I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister to make arrangements for my grandchildren's security," he said. 

Vowing to continue the fight against drugs, Jhota's father said, "We will continue fighting this war against drugs. As long as I am alive, I will also continue fighting against drugs in Punjab," he said. (ANI)

CJP also condemned the detention of its leaders and volunteers on Tuesday morning after they entered the site carrying the national flag and demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls.

The announcement of denotification came on October 12, the same day CJP representatives approached Parliament Street Police Station to submit a letter seeking a date and time for their proposed peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar.

The outfit said it had offered the police the choice of scheduling the demonstration and sought a response within 24 hours. The subsequent order that Jantar Mantar would no longer be a designated protest venue has raised serious questions about access to public spaces for peaceful dissent.

On Tuesday morning, CJP co-convenors Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, National Organisation In-charge Ajinkya Shinde and other party members entered the site and were detained by Delhi Police.

“You cannot denotify the resistance. If the government believes that removing Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites will silence people demanding accountability, it has misunderstood what this movement stands for. Jantar Mantar is not merely a location on a map. It is where citizens have gathered to question those in power, and no administrative order can erase that democratic impulse,” said Abhijeet Dipke, Founder and National Convenor of CJP.

Jantar Mantar has served for decades as a prominent venue for public demonstrations, including campaigns for transparency and anti-corruption, veterans’ demands for One Rank One Pension, protests by women wrestlers and farmers, and student-led agitations. CJP said removing the site from the list of designated protest venues risks weakening the visibility of public dissent by moving demonstrations away from the heart of the capital.

“You cannot ask citizens to approach the authorities for permission to protest and then change the rules while they are seeking that permission. We went to the police station to ask for a date for our demonstration. Our demand was clear: tell us when we can hold a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar. Instead, the site was denotified. We will not accept a system in which the right to protest becomes meaningless in practice,” said Ashutosh Ranka, Co-Convenor of CJP.

The outfit said the issue extends beyond its demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. It concerns whether citizens can publicly challenge those in power at a location where their demands can be seen and heard. CJP maintained that alternative venues cannot automatically replace the historical and civic significance of Jantar Mantar, particularly when protests concern public institutions and electoral accountability.

CJP reiterated that its demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation remains unchanged and that it will continue to challenge the denotification of Jantar Mantar. CJP said it would not abandon its demand for electoral accountability or accept the removal of a historic protest venue as a reason to retreat from peaceful democratic action. (ANI)

Former Punjab Congress president Raja Warring, in a post on X, alleged that Jhota's killing reflected the failure of the state government's law and order machinery and its campaign against drugs.

"The daylight murder of Parvinder Singh Jhota is a direct result of the failed law & order and failed 'Yudh Nashean Virudh' of the @BhagwantMann govt," Warring said.

He further alleged that Jhota's efforts against drugs had not received support from the state government. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Warring said, "My heart goes out to bereaved family and supporters."

Warring added that he had briefly met Jhota's father and family when the activist was allegedly falsely accused and arrested in 2023.

Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira also targeted the AAP government, alleging that the killing exposed the failure of its anti-drug campaign.

"The broad daylight murder of Parminder Singh Jhota a known and drug activist of Punjab only shows how powerful #DrugMafia is under the @AamAadmiParty govt!" Khaira said in a post on X.

He further alleged that the government's campaign against drugs was limited to publicity, claiming that a "Politician-Police-Drug Mafia nexus rules the roost in Punjab". Khaira also expressed condolences to Jhota's family.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia alleged that Jhota was shot while recording drug dealers on camera.

"Parvinder Jhotta, who was fighting against the drug menace in Mansa, was shot at and subsequently died," Majithia said.

Sukhbir Badal, President of the Shiromani Akali DaI slammed the state government accusing them of criminal negligence.

"I am profoundly shocked to learn about the merciless killing of Parvinder Singh Jhota by a drug trafficker. In this moment of profound sorrow, I stand with his bereaved family. This heinous murder is a stark reminder that law and order has ceased to exist in Punjab. The deceased had been continuously raising his voice against the drug menace but no one took heed and no one supported him. The much-hyped Yudh Nashian Virudh is nothing but a gimmick and has completely failed. Recent events have exposed how the Guru-Dokhi Bhagwant Mann led AAP dispensation is completely engrossed in looting Punjab and draining the state's resources to enrich itself. They have zero attention towards the fast deteriorating situation in the state, and it is because of this criminal negligence that Punjabis are suffering every single day. This jungle raj must end," he said.

BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu also criticised the state government over the incident, alleging a breakdown of law and order in Punjab.

"Punjab is in the grip of fear and lawlessness. Police personnel are being murdered, citizens like Parwinder Jhota are targeted, and gangsters roam fearlessly," Bittu said in a post on X.

Questioning Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's handling of the Home portfolio, Bittu added, "With Bhagwant Mann holding the Home portfolio, who will protect Punjab when the government has failed to protect its own people?"

AAP leader Baltej Pannu defended the state government and said that strict action would be taken against the guilty.

"The murder that took place in Mansa is highly condemnable, and information is coming in that this murder was committed by a person running a chemist shop No person in Punjab is permitted to take the law into their own hands, strict action will be taken against the guilty," he said. 

Jhota, who was known for his activism against drugs in Mansa, was shot by a medical shop owner. He was taken to a hospital after sustaining bullet injuries and later succumbed to them. (ANI)

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਰਾਜ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਆਦਿਤਿਆ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਨੰਦਗਾਓਂ ਦਾ CSP ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਬਨਸੋਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਬਿਕਾਪੁਰ ਦਾ CSP ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਬਾਦਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਛੱਤੀਸਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਅਹਿਮ ਅਹੁਦਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਅਤੇ CJP ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ’ਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਝੰਡੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

CJP ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ਗੀ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

CJP ਆਗੂ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਟਾਉਣਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਦੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ, “ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ’ਤੇ ਤਿਰੰਗਾ ਲਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ।”

10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਵਿਵਾਦ

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ CJP ਨੇ 10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ, ਸੌਰਵ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ 7,000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

The FIRs relate to alleged barricade-breaking and graffiti on roads during the protest, according to police.

On Monday, INDIA bloc leaders and supporters, led by Rahul Gandhi, marched through Barakhamba Road towards the Supreme Court, following which 11 opposition leaders filed a petition in the apex court challenging the Election Commission's decisions relating to the SIR of electoral rolls.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Registry has flagged 14 defects in the writ petition filed by Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and nine other INDIA bloc leaders challenging aspects of the Election Commission of India (ECIs) ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The petitioners include Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, CPI(M) MP MA Baby, CPI leader D Raja, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Majhi, NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule and Indian Union Muslim League MP ET Mohammed Basheer.

Pertinently, the Registry has also sought clarification from the petitioners on why private parties — CEC Gyanesh Kumar and two ECs SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi have been arrayed as respondents in the writ petition.

The objection has been raised in the context of the petition being filed under Article 32 of the Constitution. The petitioners have said they are approaching the Supreme Court over alleged irregularities in the exercise of the Election Commission’s powers during the SIR and have sought, among other reliefs, examination of the manner in which the poll panel took and implemented decisions relating to the electoral-roll revision.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has invited opposition MPs for high tea at his residence on Tuesday, a day after INDIA bloc leaders and supporters marched towards the Supreme Court over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi thanked the leaders of the opposition for their support during the protest march and vowed that their fight would continue.

"We needed to show the government that the people of India are not going to be intimidated. You cannot beat us, threaten us, frighten us. We will not accept being bullied. As I said in my press conference, there are no parallel protests. It’s one protest, and it’s a protest where everybody is standing together. Every single person is going to stand against these killers of our Constitution, these killers of our democracy. And we’re not going to back down," he said. (ANI)

ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ’ਤੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ CJP ਆਗੂ ਸੌਰਭ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਆਸ਼ੂਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਂਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਏਐੱਨਆਈ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸਸਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।

ਐਤਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ 10 ਵਜੇ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ

ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਸਾਵਿਤਰੀਬਾਈ ਸ਼ੰਕਰਰਾਓ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ 10 ਵਜੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੋਤੇ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੇ ਚਚੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸੰਤੁਕ ਪਿੰਪਰੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਵੱਲ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ 15 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਿੰਗੋਲੀ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਤੋਂ ‘ਸਕੂਲ ਠੀਕ ਕਰੋ’ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਨ। ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ 20 ਤੋਂ 25 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ ਸਨ।

ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਬਿਸਮਾ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ SSP ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਸਿਟੀ ਸ੍ਰੀਨਗਰ, ਕੇ.ਐਮ. ਪ੍ਰਿਯੰਕਾ ਨੂੰ SSP ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਹਾਈਵੇਅ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸਟਰ ਪੋਪਸੀ ਨੂੰ SSP ਰੂਰਲ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਜੰਮੂ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਮਿਸ਼ਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਐਂਟੀ-ਨਾਰਕੋਟਿਕਸ ਟਾਸਕ ਫੋਰਸ (ANTF) ਦਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਸਾਕੇਤ ਗੋਖਲੇ ਨੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ’ਤੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਾਹਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਠਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਥਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਗਿਆਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਮਮਤਾ ਬੈਨਰਜੀ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।

ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਕੌਮੀ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਸੰਬਿਤ ਪਾਤਰਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ’ਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਾਧਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਭੜਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

ਸੰਬਿਤ ਪਾਤਰਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਰਾਜਕਤਾ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਅਸਫ਼ਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਅਤੇ ਭੀੜਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਹਾਰ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ ‘ਆਪ’ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਲਾਏ ਦੋਸ਼

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਆਗੂ ਨੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੋਣ ਸੂਚੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸੁਧਾਈ (SIR) ਵਿੱਚ ਕਥਿਤ ਬੇਨਿਯਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

She alleged heavy police deployment around party offices and her residence.

In a post on X addressed to the Chief Minister, Sharmila said, "Good Morning, CM garu! Hope you managed to get some sleep last night! Or were you busy counting Congress workers getting ready to protest against vote chori at Vijaywada today? Policemen reportedly deployed in large numbers around the Congress Party office, at city junctions, and near my Vijayawada residence!” 

Sharmila added, "Relax! We are the Congress Party. We believe in democracy, not intimidation. We believe in people's power, not police power. When the government fears the Opposition more than it trusts the people, you know something is seriously wrong! So, CM garu... who's losing sleep here?"

Her remarks come after Congress workers and opposition members attempted to march and register their protest at Vijayawada, while security forces intervened, detaining protestors on the spot.

Condemning the police action, Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gidugu Rudra Raju said, "On behalf of the INDIA alliance partners, we are doing a demonstration at the Vijayawada Lenin Centre. We were peacefully demonstrating. The police high-handedly arrested us, and they are taking us away. We demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. There should be only ballot elections."

Earlier on Saturday, Congress leader Balmoor Venkat claimed that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged opportunistic protests in response to the growing momentum of the Congress-led demonstrations in the national capital.

The INDIA bloc protests led by the Congress party seek the sacking of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Speaking to ANI, Venkat noted that Congress workers have been protesting in Delhi for the past four days under the direct leadership of party leader Rahul Gandhi to demand Kumar's resignation.

On Saturday, security forces detained several demonstrators, including content creators, at Dhaula Kuan, the day of the planned Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in the national capital.

Widespread detentions, intensive vehicle checks and multi-agency deployments were reported across key entry points to prevent demonstrators from reaching the designated protest site.

At Dhaula Kuan, security forces erected heavy barricades and deployed spike strips, while female police personnel were also present to conduct thorough vehicle inspections.

Delhi Police detained around 500 people who arrived in different groups from various locations ahead of the planned protest in the national capital, while nearly 50 people with criminal antecedents were also apprehended as part of preventive measures, officials said.

"Around 500 people coming in different groups from various locations have been detained. In addition, nearly 50 anti-social elements with criminal antecedents have been picked up so that they do not disturb the atmosphere or incite trouble," Delhi Police said.

As part of the security arrangements, the New Delhi district has been divided into 20 operational zones, with dedicated detention centres established for each zone, police said.

"The New Delhi district has been divided into 20 zones, and dedicated detention centres have been set up for each zone. Stadiums across the national capital have also been converted into temporary detention centres," the police added.

Demonstrators were also detained after gathering at Jantar Mantar and Sansad Marg amid tight security and extensive barricading across the national capital.

Security personnel have been deployed at multiple locations as CJP activists remain firm on their call to protest against the Election Commission. Entry points to the national capital have been placed under heightened security, while 46 Metro stations remain closed, according to the details provided.

The security measures have been put in place to prevent any untoward incident during the demonstration, with police seeking to avoid a recurrence of the July 20 protests.

Unlike the arrangements made during the INDIA bloc protest, police teams have been authorised to carry lathis and batons. In view of alleged attempts to record and circulate videos portraying police personnel in a negative light, teams have been instructed to avoid verbal confrontations with protesters.

Those detained are to be taken to six designated centres: Chhatrasal Stadium, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Yamuna Sports Complex, Surajmal Stadium, the Community Centre in Daulatpur and the Community Centre in Pandrawal. (ANI)

ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨਿਤਿਨ ਨਵੀਨ ਨੇ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ, ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ INDIA ਗਠਜੋੜ ’ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਨਿਤਿਨ ਨਵੀਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

INDIA ਗਠਜੋੜ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਧਿਆ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ INDIA ਗਠਜੋੜ ਅਤੇ CJP ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਨਿਤਿਨ ਨਵੀਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ CJP ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਬਿਆਨਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਉਤਰਦੇ ਹੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਘੇਰਿਆ

ਮੁੰਬਈ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਫਲਾਈਟ ਦੇ ਲੈਂਡ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨੋਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਉਤਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ 'ਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

Police have conducted flag marches, intensified vehicle checks at border points and deployed personnel at key entry and exit routes.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also closed entry and exit gates at several metro stations ahead of the protest. 

According to an official communication, Delhi Police proposed closing entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations across the national capital and reducing train frequency at these stations in view of the planned protests.

Earlier, police detained a few protesters who had started gathering at Jantar Mantar for the CJP demonstration.

CJP plans to hold a protest today, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The proposed outreach comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the Opposition and the Election Commission of India (ECI) over alleged "vote chori" and the revision of electoral rolls.

Earlier in the day, CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "scared of the youth" and accused the Centre of "waging a war against its own people" through what he described as emergency-like conditions.

He was speaking to reporters in Mumbai before leaving for New Delhi for the protest.

He also alleged that police personnel were visiting residential areas to discourage people from joining the demonstration, asserting that peaceful protest was a fundamental right.

"Narendra Modi is a dictator. He is scared. Which is why he has shut down railways, metro, and all roads. If Narendra Modi is so afraid of the youth of this country, the people of this country, then why is he sitting on the Prime Minister's chair?" Dipke said.

"To save his power, he is picking up people from trains and making announcements in societies that no one should go to the protest. The Delhi Police is going to people's homes and saying no one should protest. Why shouldn't they go? Protesting is our fundamental right. Article 19 gives us the fundamental right to protest in a very democratic and peaceful manner, and that is what we are going to do," Dipke said.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police denied permission to the party to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, citing a previous breakdown of the law and order situation in the area. (ANI)

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਫਰੀਦਾਬਾਦ, ਝੱਜਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੀਪਤ ਬਾਰਡਰਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭਾਰੀ ਨਾਕੇਬੰਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਰੋਹਤਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਾਰਾ-163 ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੀਪਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ NSUI ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਕਈ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਊਸ ਅਰੈਸਟ (ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ) ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਰੇਵਾੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ CJP ਕਾਰਜਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਹਤਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਆਗੂ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਜ਼ਰਬੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਲਗਭਗ 20 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ 23 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਲ (CAPF) ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਇਨਾਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਆਮ ਨਾਕਾਬੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ’ਤੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਆਮ ਦੱਸੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇੱਥੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭੀੜ ਘੱਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੈਟਰੋ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹਜ਼ਰਤ ਨਿਜ਼ਾਮੂਦੀਨ ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਆਮ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵੱਧ ਭੀੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖੀ ਗਈ। ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਰਹੀ। ਮੈਟਰੋ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਮੈਟਰੋ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇਟ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਣਹਾਨੀ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਮੋਹਨ, ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ DMRC ਦੀ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ ਡੀ. ਥਾਰਾ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨਕਰਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਢੁੱਕਵੇਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਟਰੇਨਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਵੀ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਜਨਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਕਦਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਹੈ।

The letter highlighted growing public outrage over alleged electoral malpractices, accusing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar of wrongdoings and demanding his resignation.

Highlighting constitutional guarantees under Article 19, the CPI MP called out the government's heavy-handed tactics, including police manhandling of women MPs, mass detentions, and train cancellations across the country. 

"I wish to make it categorically clear that turning Delhi into a military cantonment will not deter us... The right to peaceful assembly is a constitutional guarantee, not a privilege to be granted or withdrawn at the government's discretion," wrote Kumar.

The letter comes as the capital faces an extraordinary security lockdown triggered by widespread public fury and legal scrutiny surrounding Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. 

Describing the situation as a de facto "state of emergency," MP Sandosh Kumar painted a grim picture of Central Delhi, where over 47,000 security personnel have been deployed to block access to historic protest grounds like Jantar Mantar.

He said that rather than engaging in dialogue, the government has responded with severe police tactics, barricades, lathis, house arrests, and mass detentions. Female lawmakers and student activists alike have faced police manhandling while attempting to exercise their constitutional rights. 

"We will raise our voice. No amount of barricading, intimidation, or repression can take away our fundamental right to protest," wrote Kumar.

The repression is not confined to the capital’s borders. The letter highlighted a sweeping nationwide operation to intercept citizens heading toward Delhi. Activists are being arrested and detained more than 1,000 kilometres away, while inbound trains face sudden cancellations to prevent peaceful assemblies. 

For millions of daily commuters in Delhi, the government’s refusal to allow a designated protest space has transformed everyday life into a nightmare. Widespread traffic gridlock, closed metro stations, and pervasive state surveillance have choked the city.

Invoking Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, the CPI leader reminded the Prime Minister that the freedom to assemble peacefully is a fundamental right guaranteed to every citizen, student, and elected representative, not a discretionary favour to be granted or revoked at the state's whim.

 The MP concluded by urging the Prime Minister to open Jantar Mantar immediately, resume full metro operations, release detained activists, and respect fundamental democratic rights.  

"Do not make us protest just to secure the right to a protest site," Sandosh Kumar warned, urging the government to choose accountability and democratic dialogue over silence and force. (ANI)

The complaint was filed on October 6, and the same is pending before the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Shivam Gupta for pre-summoning evidence. The matter will be heard by the court on November 19. 

Complainant Karong Onkholer said that he was married to accused Mary Kom on March 12, 2005, and they thereafter resided together at Faridabad. The said marriage was dissolved by a Customary practice on December 20, 2023.

The complainant has moved the court through advocates Akash Krishna and Pragati Sharma.

 It is stated that the Complainant, prior to and during the subsistence of the marriage, sacrificed his own career and professional pursuits in order to support and enable the professional career of Mary Kom. 

This is stated as the true factual position between the parties, and directly contradicts the imputation made by her in the statements set out that the complainant has no career and has never been gainfully employed.

The complainant said that Mary Kom is an internationally renowned boxing champion and public figure of very substantial standing, who has a wide public following and regularly appears on national television and other media platforms.

It is alleged that on January 11, 2026, after the said divorce, she appeared as a guest on the television programme of long standing which commands a viewership running into millions of persons across India.

The complainant has alleged that, in the said TV programme and interview conducted before a live studio audience and thereafter telecast to the general public, she made the false, malicious and defamatory statements concerning the complainant, with the intention of harming, and with the knowledge and reason to believe that such statements would harm, the reputation of the complainant, each of which was published to the public at large by the channel by broadcasting the same, the same having been made and published after the dissolution of their marriage.

The complaint asserted that an ordinary, reasonable viewer of the said broadcast would understand from her statements, taken individually and collectively, that the complainant is a dishonest, unfaithful, unemployed, financially parasitic, alcohol dependent individual who has misappropriated money from her bank accounts and has abandoned all responsibility towards his own children; these imputations, which directly and severely lower his moral character, credit, and standing as a spouse and as a parent, within the meaning of Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. West Bengal Congress President Subhankar Sarkar voiced strong concern over the electoral process, alleging that genuine voters were systematically prevented from reaching polling stations.

Speaking to ANI, Sarkar said that the party has demanded a re-poll in both Nandigram and Rajijinagar Assembly constituencies as voters were unable to reach the polling booths.

"There would have been some hope if the voting had been free, fair, and fearless. We had actually demanded a re-poll. Genuine voters could not reach the polling stations to cast their votes. Voters in the Nandigram constituency were distressed; they were unable to cast their votes. Consequently, we demanded a re-poll in both Rejinagar and Nandigram," he said.

Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sarkar added that the party has a "manuwadi" ideology, adding that the connection between the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) has compromised the electoral process by excluding legitimate voters.

"The BJP’s current mindset, favouring 'one country, one vote, and one political party, 'reflects a 'Manuwadi' ideology. The nexus formed between the Election Commission and the Central Govt led to the exclusion of genuine voters' names from the rolls. These individuals were denied the opportunity to vote," he said.

Echoing similar concerns, West Bengal AICC In-Charge Prakash Joshi said that the ECI did not play a neutral role in their favour, adding that the people of Nandigram have understood how West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari attempted to influence the entire election.

"We are fully hopeful and have complete confidence regarding this election, given the way the Congress party and its workers fought it. The people of Nandigram understood the truth, specifically, how Suvendu Adhikari tried to influence the entire election and how voters were intimidated with the help of the administration. We did not see the Election Commission playing a neutral role in our favour," he said.

He alleged that the Congress workers were assaulted openly during the entire process. He said that the polling booths were looted, campaign vehicles were vandalised, and shops were set on fire. 

"Amidst all this, booths were looted; Congress workers were openly beaten and assaulted; shops were set on fire; homes were attacked; and campaign vehicles were vandalised," he said.

Unleashing a lethal attack at the Opposition, he added, "Suvendu Adhikari must have felt such fear only when he saw the election slipping out of his grasp. We are fully hopeful and confident that today's results will be favourable to the Congress, paving the way for the party's resurgence in Bengal."

Congress leader Puja Roy Choudhuri said that she hopes that people have voted for the Congress party, reiterating that voting was not conducted in a fair manner. 

"We saw on the day of voting that the election was not conducted in a free and fair manner. There was a lot of voting. We hope people voted for Congress. During campaigning, we saw that people did not like the BJP," he said.

Congress candidate from Rejinagar Assembly constituency Abdullahil Kafi claimed that the eventual tallies of the votes were pre-calculated and mirror prior claims of CM Adhikar, citing that the Chief Minister had said that BJP will win by a margin of 120,000 votes.

"The outcome is exactly as the Chief Minister predicted. He had said he would win by a margin of 120,000 votes. Calculations had already been made regarding how many votes the BJP and the Congress would secure in each specific booth; it was all predetermined. The counting process is now proving that the Chief Minister orchestrated a calculated rigging of the election and systematically manipulated the vote tally in West Bengal," he said.

Also, Jatiyo Unnoyon  Party (JUP) candidate from Nandigram, Sheikh Hasibul, said, "Those who have recently joined the BJP are intimidating people and threatening to vandalise homes. I am living in fear. We have to wait and see what happens after the results are declared."

Meanwhile, BJP MP Rahul Sinha asserted that the party will win from both constituencies. He further added that the people have seen how Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief and MLA Humayun Kabir divided people in the name of Babri Masjid and looted a large sum of money, and have started supporting the BJP.

"BJP will win from both constituencies. We said this earlier. Nandigram is a seat we have already won. And in Rejjinagar, people saw through Humayun Kabir's tricks. Just like they divided people on the basis of religion in the name of the Babri Masjid and looted a lot of money, all these reasons, and the Muslims of Resh Nagar as well, have started supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party. And that is why we hope we will achieve victory in both constituencies this time," he said.

The results of the Nandigram by-election are going to be declared today. Vote counting is underway at the Bhupatinath Pradhan Memorial Rural Development Society, amid tight security provided by the district police and central forces. 

Moreover, counting of votes is also underway for the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat in Assam amid tight security arrangements.

BJP candidate Devasish Sharma is leading by 10,201 votes after the first round of counting. With this increase, the movement in political circles over the counting of votes has intensified. Currently, the next round of voting is underway.

District Information and Public Relations Officer, Bikash Sarma, said that the process started with the counting of postal ballots and later the counting of EVM votes commenced. 

"The counting for the Nagaon parliamentary by-election has begun and is taking place across three sessions. The process started with the counting of postal ballots. Now, the counting of EVM votes has also commenced. Everything is being organised properly. The process is proceeding according to standard procedures and with complete discipline. There have been no issues so far," he said. 

Vote counting for bypolls conducted on October 6 is also underway in Chengalpattu district and Dharapuram (SC) in Tiruppur district in Tamil Nadu, Thattanchavady Assembly constituency in Puducherry, along with Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly constituencies in West Bengal and Nagaon Lok Sabha seat in Assam.

ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੰਹਿਤਾ (BNSS) ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ 163 ਲਾਗੂ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਧਾਰਾ ਤਹਿਤ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਣ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਣਗੇ।

ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼

CJP ਅਤੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਪੱਖੀ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣਾ ਹੈ।

ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਰਾਤ CJP ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੁਣੇ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸੰਗਠਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਠਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਥਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, CJP ਨੇ ਮੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸੰਗਠਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਮੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਏ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾਅਵਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਹੈ।

ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਵਾਲ

CJP ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਏ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਾਧਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ 'ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੱਤਾ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰਨਗੇ।

ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਪੋਸਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ 10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦਬਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਓਨੇ ਹੀ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਉਣਗੇ।

10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ

ਦੱਸ ਦਈਏ CJP ਨੇ ਗਿਆਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ 10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਅਭਿਜੀਤ ਦੀਪਕੇ ਨੇ 2 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਐਕਸ 'ਤੇ ਪੋਸਟ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਗਿਆਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪਹੁੰਚਣਗੇ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਤਰ-ਮੰਤਰ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਥਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

ਦਿੱਲੀ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਧਣ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਦਸ਼ਾ

ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਮੈਟਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਲ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਵਧ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਜ਼ਰਤ ਨਿਜ਼ਾਮੂਦੀਨ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਐਕਸਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਜਾਣ ਜਾਂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਟ੍ਰੇਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਟਰੋ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਚੈੱਕ ਕਰਨ।

ਫਿਲਹਾਲ 10 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਥਿਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਨ 'ਤੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦਕਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ 'ਤੇ ਅੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Speaking to reporters in Amritsar, Sachin Pilot noted that for the first time such evidence, including copies of files and WhatsApp chats, has come out against a sitting Chief Minister.

Pilot said, "I paid my respects at the Durgiana Temple today. I prayed for the welfare and prosperity of the people of the state, and sought the Almighty's blessings and strength so that I may serve the people.”

“The action taken by the CBI has been taken on the orders of the High Court. And for the first time, such evidence has been found in the house of a sitting CM, which I have seen in the media. There are copies of files, WhatsApp chats, and various types of things that the High Court has said to investigate. I think that an investigation should be done very soon, within a time limit, so that the public knows what the reality is. If such a big issue of corruption that I have seen in the media, if it has come to light, is being investigated, then the truth should come forward,” he added.

BJP leader Sunil Kumar Jakhar accused the AAP government and party convenor Arvind Kejriwal of “looting” Punjab.

The BJP leader said, "The commission was formed with the intent to loot Punjab...We already have a 'capable' person whom the people of Delhi foisted upon Punjab—Mr. Kejriwal himself is from IIT...The intent is to loot Punjab. They are all 'non-state actors'—much like when Pakistan used to send operatives who, upon being caught, would disown them, claiming no connection. Those were non-state actors; these are Mr Kejriwal's non-state actors. Their mandate is to loot Punjab. It is about how to maximise and expedite the looting during the four or five years they have in power—extracting as much as possible."

The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the CBI to probe corruption allegations involving Mann’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Rajbir Singh Ghuman.

The CBI has registered an FIR to investigate allegations of corruption against the OSD to the Punjab CM and his associates, the agency said in a release.

The allegations include influencing and manipulating postings of officers, including IAS and IPS officers, departmental proceedings, policy formulation, administrative approvals, tender conditions, licensing matters, land-use conversion, property disputes, and revenue and land-related issues in lieu of pecuniary benefits, according to the CBI.

The agency also alleged that the accused public servants purportedly accessed and provided drafts of government orders and policies to private persons before their issuance.

Earlier today, CM Mann hit back at the BJP, questioning the timing of the CBI search as the probe comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference, Bhagwant Mann said, “BJP has started election preparations in Punjab through ED and CBI. Conducting raids a few months before elections to intimidate opponents has been BJP's old tactic. Raids are carried out as part of a pre-planned strategy.”

AAP government has also approached the Supreme Court, challenging the CBI probe. (ANI)

Women account for 43 per cent of the overall Ayush services workforce, with their representation crossing 50 per cent in hospitals, day-care centres, educational institutes and wellness establishments.

According to the Ministry, the Ayush services economy, covering Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy, was estimated at US$36.92 billion in FY2024-25, registering a robust 16.91 per cent CAGR since FY2022-23. The sector directly supports an estimated 1.76 million livelihoods across healthcare, wellness, education and allied services.

Highlighting the employment potential of the sector, Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (IC) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, reiterated, “The growing Ayush services sector is creating meaningful employment opportunities across healthcare, wellness, education and allied services. Its expansion is not only strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem but also opening new avenues for entrepreneurship, skill development and women’s participation in the workforce.”

According to the Ayush Service Sector Report, a study by RIS released recently on Ayurveda Day 2026, women’s participation is particularly significant across organised Ayush establishments. Female representation exceeds 60 per cent in spas and wellness resorts, stands at 58 per cent in educational institutes, 57 per cent in day-care centres and 53 per cent in hospitals.

The findings highlight the growing role of women across diverse segments of the Ayush services ecosystem, including healthcare delivery, education, wellness and allied services. More than one million livelihoods are concentrated in local and standalone clinics, demonstrating the sector’s extensive employment footprint across urban and rural areas.

Secretary, Ministry of Ayush Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha emphasised, “The expansion of organised Ayush services, supported by quality standards, skilling, digital infrastructure and stronger institutional networks, can significantly enhance both the scale and quality of employment. Greater participation of women in organised Ayush establishments also demonstrates the sector’s potential to contribute to inclusive economic growth.”

Standalone clinics remain the largest revenue-generating segment, contributing an estimated US$16.21 billion, or 43.9 per cent of the sector’s revenue, while day-care centres account for another US$10.13 billion. Together, the two segments contribute more than 70 per cent of the sector’s revenue. Ayurveda remains the largest individual system, accounting for US$17.73 billion, or around 48 per cent of the total Ayush services revenue.

The wellness segment is witnessing particularly strong growth, recording a 21.29 per cent CAGR; meanwhile, yoga centres registered around 75 per cent revenue growth over two years, reflecting rising demand for preventive health and wellness services.

The sector is also gaining traction in Medical Value Travel (MVT), generating an estimated US$1.77 billion in FY2024-25. International patients, though accounting for around 5 per cent of patient volumes, contribute approximately 15-25 per cent of hospital segment revenue, with therapeutic programmes typically involving stays of 5 to 11 days.

The assessment projects the Ayush services sector to expand from US 36.92 billion in FY 2024–25 to an estimated US 216–318 billion by 2047, with substantial potential to generate employment opportunities across diverse areas, including healthcare delivery, wellness, education, medical travel, research, digital health and allied services.

The growing representation of women across organised Ayush establishments, alongside the sector’s expanding economic and employment footprint, highlights its potential to contribute to women’s economic participation, inclusive growth and India’s broader development journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047. He said that Patekar wanted to expand the work in Goa as well, and the two held discussions regarding the same a few months back.

Sawant said that the loss feels personal, as Patekar was a very close friend.

Highlighting his contributions to Indian cinema, the Chief Minister said that his films will forever be remembered.

"In a private hospital, he was brought in dead. The hospital declared him dead. I am deeply saddened by this. It is a huge loss for the entire country, as well as for Maharashtra and Goa. He was a very fine actor and a great social worker. He was a very close personal friend of mine, so it is a personal loss for me as well. He made a huge contribution to the film industry, especially through movies ranging from 'Krantiveer' to 'Natsamrat'. His films will be remembered forever, and people loved him immensely for his work," he said.

Expressing grief on the demise of the acclaimed actor, he emphasised that the administration is in complete contact with the family and will provide whatever assistance is required.  

"I share in the grief of his family. At present, his body is at the Goa Medical College in Goa. I have already informed the administration, and the entire administration is in touch with his family. Whatever assistance is required, the Goa government will extend full cooperation to shift the body from Goa to wherever they wish. I believe they are taking it to Pune, as per current information. Once again, I share in the grief of his family and all his well-wishers," he said.

Speaking on his bond with the late actor, he said, "Nana [Patekar] was a very close personal friend of mine. Whenever he visited Goa, he would call me personally and come to meet me at my official residence on several occasions."

Further, CM Sawant shared that Patekar, alongside his celebrated career in Indian cinema, also worked extensively for social welfarea nd wanted to expand the Naam Foundation in Goa, but passed away before things could proceed further.

"Through the Naam Foundation, he worked extensively for farmers and people in other social sectors. He wanted to expand that work in Goa as well, and we had discussed this just a few months ago. However, it is very sad that things could not proceed further, and he passed away here in Goa. I feel very bad about it because he was a very close friend of mine," he added.

Nana Patekar was one of the prominent actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He made his acting debut with the 1978 film ‘Gaman’ and went on to earn praise for his performances in films including ‘Parinda’, ‘Prahar’, ‘Angaar’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Tiranga’, ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’.

In recent years, Patekar continued to work in films. He was part of ‘Housefull 5’, which starred Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh and others.

Patekar, 75, also appeared as a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. He also had a cameo in ‘Subedar’, which stars Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan. (ANI)
